We have taken the necessary precautions to keep our students and our team safe, and to ensure that your language learning experience continues during these special circumstances.
Therefore, starting March 16th all our language classes have been held exclusively in online video meetings and will continue online until it is safe to resume classes in person at the center.
Office staff is working remotely from home and they have access to teachers and students via email and phone.

Attending Your On-Line Language Class
All group and private classes are currently held online via Microsoft Teams. Once you register and classes are confirmed, you will receive an email invitation from SMLA in Teams (it has the Microsoft logo) with the subject line: SMLA invited you to Santa Monica Language Academy in Microsoft Teams.

These are the steps to follow to be able to connect with the team:
- Click the button Join Teams
- You will be prompted to login into your Microsoft account. If you already have a Microsoft account, you will only have to put in your password. If you don't have an account, you can create one using the same email to which the invitation was sent.
- Once logged in, you can either download the desktop application or use the web version.
- When connected in Microsoft Teams, you should see the name of the Team that you have been added to. It has the name of the language and the name of the teacher. Under it, you will see the name of the channel that you are added to as a guest; this is the name of the class that you are currently attending.
- Classes will be held at the same time as currently scheduled. The teacher will be initiating a video meeting and will invite each student to join. If you haven't been invited, you can ask to join the meeting.
- Online classes will follow the same curriculum as the live ones. Please remember to have your textbook and workbook (when required) with you.
